Lucy 　2014年公開の米映画　Luc Bessonの脚本監督

舞台は台北の高級ホテル入口から始まる。台北で
　米国の学生Lucy（Scarlett Johansson）が朝鮮系の悪人につかまり
　合成されたCPH4の運び屋にされる。
お腹を蹴られたLucyの体内でCPH4は溶け出し、Lucyの頭脳を活性化
　させ、Lucyの能力を高めてゆく。だが他方で彼女の体は崩壊を始める。
生物の進化と脳の活用との関係を研究しているNorman(Morgan Freeman)から
　生きることの意味が知識の伝達であることを学んだLucyは、
　彼女は自らの体の崩壊を恐れず、自らが学んだすべての知識を
Normanにつたえようとする。

CPH4は母体が妊娠6週間後から分泌する（secrete）分子moleculeで胎児の
とくに脳の成長を促す酵素enzymeである。映画公開時に盛んにいわれたの
はこれはBessonが、脚本で作り出した架空の物質だということである。ただ
二点指摘したい。一つは胎児の成長の過程で胎児の器官の成長を促す物質が
母体から分泌されるという考え方は納得できるということ。またもう一つは
　CPH4という名称の物質自体は実在して議論されていること。たとえばCPH4
　のように。

　この映画は知的なメッセージがある一方、娯楽性もあり、興行的にも大成功
であった。個人的にもこの映画は、生きることの本質を説明していて、
　安らかな気持ちになった。私たちが存在したことの意味は、学んだことを
　伝えること、それで十分存在した意味を果たしたことになるというメッセージは
　私達の心をやすらかにするのではないか。それは人はその知識をあとの人に
　伝えれば、その役割を果たしたことを意味しているからだ。
